Sunset / golden hour — Santorini's caldera faces west, so the light is extraordinary. Sunset ranges from about 19:50 in April to 20:40 in June and July, and back to roughly 19:00 by early October. We time everything to the minute for your date.

No — hot air balloons don't operate on the island (that's Cappadocia). For the view from above, the helicopter proposal is the real version; for drama at sea level, a private catamaran delivers the caldera from the water.
